More Ways to Fuel the Schools

From a fancy night out to casual dining to lunch tables, the roundup of upcoming school fundraisers has something for everyone.

School Fuel’s annual phone banking kicked off on Monday, Oct. 29. Students, parents and staff are now reaching out to other families in their individual schools to ask for donations to School Fuel, the foundation that raises money to pay for programs for Novato Unified School District students, sponsors local events benefitting students, and develops partnerships with companies to help support all NUSD schools.

Pick up the phone when that sweet little third-grader or eager eighth-grader or community-oriented high school junior calls you. Give what you can, sure, but remember, too, to encourage those students reaching out. The community phone banking runs through Dec. 5.

San Jose Middle School supporters will be dining at California Grill Tuesday, Nov. 6, for lunch or dinner, for dining in or taking out. Why? Because California Grill, one of the Dine and Donate mainstays, is giving 15% of all proceeds to the school for all orders made by patrons waving the uploaded flier. They’ll even kick back 15 percent for all gift cards purchased that day. Vote for California Grill on Election Day.

Olive Elementary School continues to work toward purchasing a Risograph copier. Its recent Dine and Donate at Chevy’s garnered $168.30. Help get the school even closer to its goal by taking advantage of Fernando’s Restaurant’s generosity in hosting Olive’s next event on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Stay tuned for more details.

Did you see the article earlier this week about Lu Sutton Elementary School’s drive to get lunch tables? It looks like their efforts are starting to pay off. So far, sponsors’ pledges are confirmed for five tables, and several others are in the process of being finalized. Thanks to all of those people giving a little or giving a lot. As for me, sadly, I didn’t win the Kindle Fire with my donation. Maybe next time.
