Celebrate Halloween on the Mainland with the Matt Bolton Band

Finnegan’s Marin is celebrating Halloween with a special appearance of The Matt Bolton Band — all the way from the shores of Hawaii — and a costume contest with great prizes in a party atmosphere.

The Novato restaurant and entertainment venue located at 877 Grant Ave. isn’t waiting for the weekend to fete the spooky time of year. The fun begins at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 with the band performing until midnight. Winners of the costume contest will be announced at 11 p.m.

The Matt Bolton Band will rock with its blend of funk, soul and reggae. Featuring Matt Bolton from Kauai on guitar, bass and vocals, Bolton is joined on stage with Jeff Caldwell, his Hawaiian band mate, also on guitar, bass and vocals. The pair has performed for years together in Hawaii. They mix it up, each playing in each other’s bands, switching off who is playing bass and who is singing. Drummer Nate Brown from Santa Cruz will join them on stage.

Recently Bolton shared the stage with Todd Rundgren on his summer tour, playing guitars and keyboard and sharing vocals. He is also featured in Rundgren’s live DVD Arena.

Caldwell graduated from the Musicians Institute of Hollywood when he was 18 and later taught at the school. He performed with George Clinton, Ric Holly and more.

According to Bolton, if you’ve been to Kauai and love live rock and dance music, you’ve probably seen us. “I meet people on a regular basis in California that have randomly seen me play on the island,” he laughs.

No cover for the show. Menu items will be available late into the evening. Reservations are available, but not

required. For more information, call 415-899-1516 or go to
