A girl was treated for lacerations believed to be non-life-threatening.
Police and paramedic units responded to San Marin High School on Friday after a report of a girl who was allegedly cut by another student, sources said. An ambulance crew happened to be at the school for a special event and paramedics tended to the girl and took her to Kaiser hospital in Terra Linda just before the school's lunch break, according to Captain Alex Bowlds of the Novato Fire District. The extent of her injuries was unknown, but two engine crews were canceled after they had begun to respond to the call, an indication that the injuries were not life-threatening. San Marin High School welcomed 42 Japanese exchange students from Seinan Gakuin High School in Sukuoka, Japan on March 28. The students are participating in a two-week foreign exchange program and requested to visit San Marin in the morning. They all have had at least three years of English and shadowed San Marin students during their morning period classes. The group of 38 girls and four boys, aged 15-17, spent the morning learning and participating in an American high school as more than 50 San Marin students served as student guides. Adam Littlefield, San Marin principal, arranged the visit and said, “The visit was a great opportunity for students from both schools. Time is running out to see the final performances of A Chorus Line, presented by San Marin High School. This version of the famous 1970s Broadway musical is not quite as racy as the original — toned down for family audiences — but also creatively updated for 21st century viewing. Watch how dance gypsies will do just about anything to land a job in the show, a powerful metaphor for all human aspiration. Directed by Pat Nims, the show is complex fusion of dance, song and compellingly drama. Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets and the San Marin High office during school hours. The March 30 and 31 performances are at 8 p.m. and the April 1 performance — the final one of their career for the seniors — is at 2 p.m.

They're calling it smARTt — San Marin Arts and Technical Arts — and they hope it will attract parents and kids who might be pondering other options for freshman year.

Hi Steve: I think both high schools have it's pros and cons; advantages and disadvantages. The two high schools have different emphasises. If you are looking for high school for your kids, you really should look at your kids' strength and weakness, likes and dislikes; bring them to each high school, observe and ask questions to find out which high school is a better fit for them. Ghiringhelli Pizzeria hosts fundraising 'theater cafe' for the Novato Theater renovation effort, and drama students from San Marin High were the stars of the show.
Several people had to be turned away at the door Tuesday night during a “theater café” fundraiser for the Novato Theater staged at Ghiringhelli Pizzeria, so more cozy get-togethers are being planned. An idea from Ghiringhelli general manager Kristin Aduna was brought to life as San Marin High School’s advanced drama students put on a show in the restaurant/bar’s event ballroom to support the ongoing Novato Theater renovation effort, which will take up the next two years. “It was totally generous of them, and we owe Kristin and the staff a lot of thanks,” said theater committee volunteer June Haugen, who hosted the event with David Burns and Kathy Dunn. “ … It couldn’t have been better. Everyone raved.” The event was a 70-seat sellout at $…

San Marin High’s Nick Kristofors and Novato’s Carlos Pechanha were named the best in their respective sports when the Marin County Athletic League announced its all-league teams recently. Kristofors, a senior, was voted the Lineman of the Year in football, capping a two-year run in which he dominated line play on both sides of the ball. The Mustangs standout had been a first-team All-MCAL selection on both the offensive and defensive lines last season. Pechanha, meanwhile, was selected as the Player of the Year in soccer despite Novato’s fifth-place finish. The senior was a first-team pick as a forward in 2010. Like Kristofors, Novato’s Jack MacDonald was honored in football for his play on both sides of the ball. He earned a first-team …
