It successfully straddles the line between pizza joint and Italian restaurant by offering up a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrées and desserts. With a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere and a friendly staff, it is the perfect family eatery.
Golden Egg Omelet House

The Golden Egg Omelet House is known for delivering old-time favorites with a new twist. The restaurant, opened sinceMore the 1970s, serves up home-style breakfast items, making it an ideal stopping point for out-of-towners looking for a taste of home. Old-fashioned hash browns aside, it also serves up freshly squeezed orange juice, locally roasted organic coffee and a full bar serving cold draft beer. Sundays and holidays tend to be busy, so expect a short wait in the late morning.

The restaurant was severely burned during a fire at an adjacent business in 2003, and the remodel took several years to complete. The restaurant changed ownership in 2008 and was opened at night as the Grant Avenue Bar & Grill while continuing as the Golden Egg during mornings and lunch hours. In early 2010 it became Old Town Bistro, but in October 2010 the ownership decided to switch back to the original name.

After 20 years operating as the Garden Restaurant, the Ignacio eatery was remodeled in 2012 and reopened as theMore Garden Bistro featuring Hilda Hattar’s Mediterranean cuisine. The new menu has a heavier focus on small plate items and made with sustainable and organic ingredients. Small plate items such as the fig and goat chesse bruschetta ($8), risotto with Italian sausage ($9.50), and dolmas ($7.50) could easily serve as entrees, especially when combined with a half-salad or cup of soup. The Garden Bistro includes some of Hattar's favorites from the old menu and an extensive wine list.
Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church

The oldest Catholic church in Novato and the city's largest church in terms of membership was established in 1892More under the auspices of the Rev. Charles E. O'Neale. The first parish building was located on modern-day South Novato Boulevard and destroyed by fire in 1935. A new parish was opened in 1937 at 1200 Grant Ave., where today sits the Cacti restaurant. The current parish, opened in 1963, is at the corner of Grant Avenue and Novato Boulevard.

The Rev. William McCain's congregation is more than 1,800 families strong. The parish is host to numerous organizations, such as the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Daughters, the Italian Catholic Federation and the St. Vincent de Paul Society as well as the parish's Helping Hands group. It also has an affiliated elementary school withan extended care program before and after school.
