In March 2012, a group of 11 employees of Stefano's pizzerias in Marin bought 1,200 California Lottery tickets throughout Marin, including the winning ticket worth more than $300K at Jolly King Liquors in Mill Valley.

When will the app be live? It would be helpful if you posted a link to the novato patch in thisRead More article, when you read it on mobile and are linked to the SA/FAX patch there isn't a link to the novato patch.

Great job and gret place to learn...all the schools in Novato are great places for kids to learn...

Actually this project started in the 80's when the parents and community had fund raising efforts toRead More build a Multi purpose room and then when the school had to shut down because of the problems with the building, all efforts stopped so it is wonderful to see that there is finally a wonderful place for the kids. Just got more info from Wildcare -- the babies are being fostered in Terra Linda at the home of aRead More wild animal foster care specialist. (Must really take an experienced caretaker to be able to deal with seven baby skunks that will start spraying all over the place soon! Can you imagine? Good thing they're so cute.)

Thank you WildCare for saving these beneficial creatures!

Since guidelines for "affordable" housing is 30% of monthly income, these figures showRead More that there is almost no affordable housing in Novato for median income persons/families. Affordable housing is not low income or subsidized housing. So this is very good information

Sounds like Novatomom and Renee are Wyndover Winos, who don't do well in comparisons. Let the posterRead More speak her piece, and if you don't like it, sign off.

well said Novatomom!! you make some great points

This sounds like a blast and I'm planning on going. One question though - how are people gonna getRead More up there? There's not nearly enough parking anywhere on the front side of Tam to accommodate this many people. Shuttle buses? Teleportation? Everyone has to ride their bike? How will this happen?

hard to believe there are people out there who actually believe this stuff. And can you imagineRead More anyone believing a man with a name like this. Wow, lemmings are everywhere it seems con artist are prepared to feast on them. Sorry, but lemmings deserve what they get. It is greed that fees this scam.

This makes my day, seeing a real estate pimp getting nailed by another pimp. These bozos scammed theRead More public into the bubble, kept the money, and are getting paid to mop up. Anyone dumb enough to fall for this scam is too dumb to counsel people on the biggest investment of their lives. I hope this couple lost everything, like the people who trusted them. The money they lost was their victim's money.

Because anybody with a name like that does not sound sketchy at all. Can Marin yuppies get anyRead More dumber?
bedbugger Dotcom April 27, 2013 at 11:12 pm
Bed bugs have been turning up in movie theaters, libraries and cafes forever. Expect this toRead More continue. The best thing people can do is learn what they look like and implement an ongoing monitoring system at home, to catch problems early.
Tim Maloney April 27, 2013 at 03:54 pm

One thing to add. I've had a Taser pulled on me by a Long Beach motorcycle officer that had someRead More serious mental issues. This was over a PARKING INFRACTION. I called the police dept and complained to a Capt. His response...wait...this is good..."Well, he's not one of our more politically correct officers". What the hell is that supposed to mean? The police have a crappy job. No question about it and its not a job that I would want but some of the cops out there seem to have gone from the bullied to the bullies. Once they become officers, getting rid of them for bad behavior or excessive force is very difficult. Short of video taping a cop shooting a person in the back, very little will happen to them for their use of force. In the case of Mehserle, he got two years for shooting Grant in the back with his pretend Taser, i.e. gun.

"How about this, naked guy loaded on meth, PCP whatever carrying an ax? Now who is going toRead More talk to him?" This seems to be an ever increasing problem in Marin lately. Seriously? This is Marin not Downtown Detroit. PCP? Are we in the 70's and 80's. do people still use PCP? I really don't know. Drugs aren't my thing. I just hope that they don't buy those defective Tasers the the Bart police use. I've heard they can put a hole in your back and might accidentally kill you.

Why do we "need to have semi-automatic weapons and detachable magazines – guns that areRead More designed for military use and designed to cause mass casualties” to kill helpless people, including plenty of formerly sweet kids, in other lands? Why aren't the good people here asking that question to the man who so prominently appears on their bumper stickers?

billdsd and David, I believe we're in agreement. I was responding primarily to the comment thatRead More drivers accept that we have to slow down for slow motor vehicles, and would rationalize that as a reason to not have to slow down for bicycles. I don't expect bicycle riders to put themselves in jeopardy (eg pull out into a gravel shoulder, for example) in order to allow me to speed on my way. However, I would expect that they, like slow moving motor vehicles, have basic courtesy for others on the road and yield when it is safe to do so. I also practice patience when driving these roads because they are so attractive to other drivers and bicyclists, and there's bound to be someone slower than me up ahead. I'd like to hope that others are patient as well, but I've also been tailgated to extreme by other vehicles while driving in West Marin. I am totally in agreement with Kimberley about the roads. Responsibility and courtesy are the key words that are going to keep conditions as safe as they can be on roads that are narrow, winding, and jammed full of all kinds of traffic on weekends.
billdsd April 15, 2013 at 08:34 pm
Why do you think that there has to be room for two cars and a bicycle? There isn't enough room onRead More this road to pass a bicycle in the same lane, even when the bicyclist is riding to the right. Bicyclists riding side by side does not change that situation one way or the other. Did it not occur to you that you might have to slow down and wait for safe clearance before passing? Why do you think that you have a right to pass dangerously close to bicyclists?
Kimberly Ventresca April 15, 2013 at 07:57 pm
David, I get what you are saying. I do leave 10 minutes early, and I have absolutely no problem withRead More cyclists that ride in a way that gives a motorist as much respect as I give to a cyclist. We have to take into account that these roads are full of people that don't know them, carry a heavy traffic load on weekends, are poorly designed to support bicycles, and are attractive to people driving too fast in Porsches. All of those reasons, out of my control as much as yours, dictate that for their own safety and protection, cyclists should take some precautions in the way they ride. I can tell you that I would never, ever ride side by side on Lucas Valley because there is barely enough room for two cars, let alone two cars and a bicycle. Two bicycles and two cars? Good luck. I don't think this is about motorists being right and cyclists being wrong or vice versa. Taking responsibility as a motorist, I drive slower on weekends, knowing that there are going to be cyclists around every corner. As a cyclist that means I accept the reality that Lucas Valley, SFD and Highway 1 are not private closed courses for me to live out my Tour de France fantasies.

Hey Kelly, do you think that the grammer police would have trouble finding screen names from theRead More local "patch"? Because if so, they might come and search your place!
Kevin Moore April 11, 2013 at 12:37 pm
I never read that he was on the ground, so it is possible he was still in the car. They tried toRead More subdue him with a Taser, but failed. Maybe they didn't get a good hit? Tasers have been known to have little effect on some people. The chase was a mess as officers were behind the curve the whole time. Seems odd they did not have spike strips out to end the chase. No one was run over, shot, or injured; so the police involvement wasn't horrific. Some areas have a no chase policy and the criminals just run wild.
Kelly S April 11, 2013 at 02:15 am
Bubba, I think they are frustrated enough and I definitely wouldn't want to add myself to their listRead More of irritants. I am sure they don't have trouble finding screen names from the local "Patch". In fact, you could twosome sound friendly to the fugitive and they might feel this is enough reason to search you and your place? I don't know - I don't ever want to offend law enforcement and am at times extremely supportive and every now and again I am well disappointed and as a youth targeted and abused and mistreated with basic denial of my basic civil rights. Anyway, I hope they get this guy and I am happy they pulled the plug on the hunt and didn't waste tax dollars on egos. Finally, I want the whole story on the creep!
