<p>Families on Novato's north and west sides are served by San Marin High, a public school nestled near the foot of Mount Burdell. About 850 students attend the school, which has a Mustang mascot and the school colors of green and gold.</p>

The district average for the secondary schools is 33 percent socioeconomically challenged students per school.</p> <p>Parents of San Marin students are more educated than the average for other Novato secondary schools. The average is 53 percent college graduates, and San Marin's figure is 59 percent. The median household income in the 94945 ZIP code is approximately $65,900.</p> <p>Mustang sports teams compete in the Marin County Athletic League.</p>
