Weekend in Novato: Bird Outing, New Exhibit and Americana at the Hopmonk

On Friday, groove to the sounds of American folk-rock band The Fall Risk at the Hopmonk. The San Francisco-based band is the brainchild of Furthur vocalist and Box Set front man, Jeff Pehrson. $12. 21+ show starts at 9pm.

On Saturday, take a walk around Stafford Lake and learn about the different types of birds that inhabit the area from a Marin County nature guide. Bring binoculars, water, a snack and sturdy shoes. Open to all ages and skill levels. 10am. Free.

That evening, head to Marin Museum of Contemporary Art to see a new exhibit titled "Movement and Music," works by local artists Christie Stewart and Kathleen Lack. Food, wine, music and a special performance by the Marin Ballet. 5-7pm.

On Sunday, two-time Grammy winner and national Medal of Arts recipient Ramblin’ Jack Elliott comes to Novato. Special Guest Nell Robinson opens. 7:30pm at the Hopmonk.
