A Walk on Mt. Burdell, Funk at Hopmonk, Gardening Class and More Fun Events This Weekend

Check out what's going on in Novato over the next couple of days

On Friday, check out San Marin High School’s production of “Inherit the Wind”. The play follows Bertram Cates who is persecuted for teaching Darwin's Theory of Evolution in a Tennessee classroom when it was against the law. This cautionary tale closely follows the great 1925 Scopes "Monkey Trial." $10.

If you’re in the mood to dance, head to Hopmonk Tavern to hear L.A. funk, blues and R&B group Orgone. Orgone’s music is rooted in the new millennium but pays respect to the music greats. $18 at the door. Show starts at 9pm Friday.

On Saturday, take a walk to the summit of Mt. Burdell. The route will take you to the Old Quarry Trail which includes one steep section, but the route down will be entirely on fire roads. Ages 15 and up. 10am. Free.

If gardening if more your thing, roll up your sleeves at a workshop at the Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden on Saturday starting 10am. The class covers basic principles and practices of vegetative propagation including bulb culture, perennial division and the art of taking strong cuttings and starting perennials from seed.
