BART to Run Longer Trains for SF Gay Pride Celebration

BART will run longer trains and extra trains to accommodate crowds.

BART will run longer trains to accommodate the crowds expected to participate in San Francisco’s LGBT Pride Celebration Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29.

In addition, BART will have special “event” trains on standby to help clear crowded platforms during peak travel times.

There will be increased BART staff strategically placed throughout the system to assist customers, provide crowd control, and ensure system-wide safety.  BART Police, technicians, and other personnel will be on hand to respond to problems.

Passengers are encouraged to use BART’s mobile website for “Real Time Departures” and other service related information. To avoid long lines at ticket machines, purchase a round-trip ticket or use a pre-loaded Clipper card

This year marks the 44th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade. This year's theme is "Color Our World with Pride."

With more than 200 parade contingents, 300 exhibitors, and more than 20 stages and venues, the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade is the largest annual gathering of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender people and allies in the nation.

The two-day celebration is free and open to all.

The Celebration at Civic Center Plaza (near Civic Center BART Station) is host to the Main Stage.
