Support Young Military Recruits at Dinner-Dance Fundraiser

The House of Steel is having its annual event Oct. 6 at the Marin Yacht Club.

Young recruits from Marin who are preparing to head off to boot camp and, in some cases, for deployment require a lot of local support. One place that leads the effort is the House of Steel, a gym in downtown San Rafael that you might have seen covered in camouflage netting and military memorabilia on Mary Street.

The House of Steel, operated by retired Marine Corps Lt. Gregory Allen, has set Oct. 6 as the date for its annual fundraising event to support young men and women who are committing or already committed to military service. All the money raised will be used to ship care packages to our troops and to fund the recruit program at the House of Steel.

The event will feature dinner, music and dancing at the Marin Yacht Club. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are just $25. Get them in advance by calling 415-497-4081 or pay at the door. RSVPs are appreciated to help with planning dinner, which will be catered by The Pleasure is Mine Catering.

Can't attend? Willing to help, though? You may send a donation to Helping Heroes from Home, House of Steel, 33 Mary Street, San Rafael, CA 94901.
