California Coastal Clean-up – Marin County

Join Marin Conservation League for the 28th Annual California Coastal Cleanup.  In 2011, more than 82,000 volunteers removed more than 1.2 million pounds of trash and recyclables from our beaches, lakes, and waterways.

This is a great way for students to earn three community service hours!

MCL will host three locations for the annual cleanup. Volunteer meeting locations are:

  • Novato - Scottsdale Pond Gazebo, south of Rowland Blvd. on Redwood Blvd. Site Captain - Susan Stompe, 415-897-1610
  • San Rafael - Mahon Creek, (meet at the intersection of Anderson and Lindaro behind San Rafael Corporate Center). Site Captain - Sara Sonnet, 415-460-1420
  • Sausalito - meet at the Bay Model. Site Captain - Vicki Nichols, subvw@yahoo.com

What to bring:  Heavy gloves (like gardening gloves), water and sunscreen, and wear work clothes and sturdy shoes that can get wet.  It is also helpful, but not necessary, to have your own bucket and "grabber" tool.

Pre-registration is NOT required, but everyone who participates in Coastal Cleanup Day must sign a waiver form - they will be available at all cleanup locations or you can sign one and bring it with you.  If you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian signature before participating.  Community service timesheets will be signed by the site captain.  Contact your captain directly with questions.
