Novato Police Officer Of The Month: Michael Braun and K-9 Ingo

The Pennies for Police Dogs campaign’s Officer Of The Month is Michael Braun and his K-9 partner, Ingo. Braun has been with the department for 10 years, three of which he has spent with his K-9 partner. Ingo lives with Braun and will continue to do so after retirement.

Braun, a Novato resident, grew up in Southern California and has lived in Northern California for the past 22 years. He also owns the Michael’s Sourdough shop in San Rafael. Officer Braun said he would like to thank the good people of Novato for their support for Novato’s K-9 program, which he said has "a huge impact" on public safety.

Although Ingo is a fantastic search dog for lost children and has other talents, funds are still needed for his narcotics training. Please continue to give generously to the Pennies for Police Dogs campaign. Drop off change and checks at on Grant Avenue or on the North Redwood Boulevard.

Annual K-9 training costs are $1,800 per dog and narcotics training is $3,800. The Novato Police Department is the only law enforcement agency in Marin that has police dogs. The Pennies campaign salutes Braun and Ingo for their commitment to Novato's public safety. 

Congratulations to Ingo's K-9 co-worker, , on his retirement after nine years of service to Novato. He was honored before the Novato City Council on Tuesday at a meeting where our newest police dog, , was introduced. Generous donations from the community have allowed Novato police to expand the K-9 unit , and Pennies for Police Dogs is proud of its contributions.
