San Marin Mock Trial Team Finished Strong in Marin County Mock Trial Competition

San Marin continues to be one of the most competitive teams in the County in this outstanding academic extracurricular competition.

San Marin eNews - San Marin's Mock Trial Team, led by volunteer adviser, Attorney Chris Sheron, finished the 2014 Competition on Saturday, but the final standings were not yet available at press time.  Over consecutive Saturdays, the Mustangs competed in 4 murder trials in the case of People vs. Rae Concha, winning against Branson and Redwood, but falling to Marin Catholic and 18-time defending Champion Tamalpais by very narrow margins.

The entire San Marin team performed brilliantly, with the following Mustangs receiving special recognition:

Lauren Bollinger (Senior) won the County Courtroom Journalist Competition and will represent Marin County and San Marin High School at the State Competition in March in San Jose.

Jason Freeberg (Senior)--Outstanding Pretrial Attorney Award

Scott Sheron (Junior)--Outstanding Defense Trial Attorney Award

Tommy Doherty (Junior)--Outstanding Witness Award as Police Officer

Bilal Mubarak (Sophomore)--Outstanding Prosecution Trial Attorney Award

The top 2 teams were Tam and Terra Linda, who competed in the finals Saturday afternoon to see who will represent Marin County at the State Finals.  Winner of the state represents California at Nationals in Wisconsin in May.

San Marin Mock Trial Team continues to be one of the most competitive teams in the County in this outstanding academic extracurricular competition.  Parents and students interested in the Mock Trial Program should look for information in San Marin eNews or check with San Marin High School at the start of the school year next fall.  Great job Mustangs!

Thank you Sylvia for posting this article. I had the opportunity to watch some of the nine Marin County high schools who competed on Jan. 28th and Feb. 1st. All teams did an incredible job, and San Marin High performed brilliantly. What a great experience for these students. Kudos to all the volunteer attorneys and judges who donate their time in making this a very worthwhile educational experience.

I hear San Marin took 3rd place out of 8 high schools in Marin. Go Mustangs. Novato High didn't have a team this year.

Thank you for the update, Baxter and Roger. Chris Sheron championed for Mock Trial when I was on SLT and my younger son was still in San Marin (seems to be) many years ago. I was impressed by Chris' conviction and dedication and thought this would be an excellent program for the students. Mr. Sheron has done an outstanding job with the students and the program since.
