Mark Down Aug. 26 for Novato Theater Summer Festival

There will be five local bands, great food and an awesome live auction item at Hamilton Amphitheatre.

The second annual Novato Theater Music Festival will not only have a great lineup of local bands but a few special treats as well.

The Aug. 26 event at Hamilton Amphitheatre is a fundraiser for the effort to redesign, rebuild and reopen the downtown Novato Theater and turn it into a film, performing arts and live music venue open year-round, organizers said.

The festival music lineup features the Tickets Band, the Amy Wigton Band, Class of Brass, the Sewer Band and 'Til Dawn. In addition to musical treats, other treats will be edible and quaffable; there will be beer, wine, Mi Pueblo burritos, Red Boy pizza, Powell's candy, Creekside Bakery cookies and lots of other treats.

The live auction item is a tour of the Anchor Brewery in San Francisco for 20 people. Keith Greggor, president and CEO of Anchor Brewing and a supporter of the Novato Theater campaign, will be on hand for the tour. Beer tasting and snacks will be provided.

"The festival will be a fun day in the sun listening to great music," said Novato Theater board member June Haugen.

The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for kids 12 and under accompanied by an adult. Limited preferred seating tickets of $50 include a complimentary drink. Tickets can be purchased at the Novato Theater website or the campaign's booth at the Novato Farmers Market, which runs Tuesdays from 4-8 p.m. on Grant Avenue.

Donors have raised about $800,000 toward the $3 million it will take to get the theater revamped and functioning. The timeline depends on how quickly donations flow in.

"How soon we bring that dream to life depends on continued support from people like you in our community," Haugen said.
