Marin County Parks Want Your Photos for Contest

Marin County Parks invites amateur photographers to enter a digital photo competition to celebrate 40 years of preservation and recreation in 2012.

Marin County Parks is inviting amateur photographers to enter a digital photo competition to celebrate 40 years of preservation and recreation in 2012.

"Marin County Parks are Marin’s backyard," county parks Executive Coordinator Katherine Mindel Jones said in a statement. "Its more than 20,000 acres of parks and preserves are where you learned to fish, where you first discovered wildflowers and where you escape the stress of daily life." 

Marin County Parks is looking for images that capture the everyday extraordinary beauty of its preserves and parks in the following categories:

  • Landscapes and vistas
  • Plant and wildlife; and
  • People enjoying nature. These images can include dogs or horses interacting with nature as well.

The grand prize is a one-night stay at Nick’s Cove & Cottages on Tomales Bay.

Upload images for consideration to our Flickr page. Photo captions must accompany all submissions, and should include the image subject, contest category, date, location image was taken and name of photographer. A list
of the open space preserves and parks facilities can be found at www.marincountyparks.org. If the image that you submit includes people, please obtain the necessary releases from the individual(s) depicted. A copy of the release can be requested at parks-socialmedia@marincounty.org.
