While we're basking in Olympic spirit, let's pay tribute to our local Olympians.
Let's start by taking inventory.
How many Olympians have we had from Marin County through the years? We can consider those who were born here, those who grew up here or those who lived here late in life. Shoot, anybody who had a cup of coffee here could be claimed as a local, right?
We've had some ace swimmers (Ann Curtis Cuneo, Rick DeMont), some stellar sailors (Paul Cayard, John Kostecki), a sprinter (Archie Williams) and a freestyle skier (Jonny Moseley). Of those, DeMont and Moseley were the most homegrown.
