Team Effort Sends San Marin Boys to Victory

Stuart Wesonga scores 25 points, but star notes everyone contributed to defensive dominance that was key to a non-league boys basketball win over El Molino.

WEDNESDAY'S SCORE: 56, El Molino 39.

SAN MARIN'S RECORD: 6-4.

GAME SUMMARY: San Marin High's boys basketball team dominated El Molino the entire game, wearing down the Lions with a full-court press and strong offensive presence in every quarter.

If the Mustangs had an Achilles' heel, it was their free throws. Shooting less than 50 percent from the line, San Marin missed many opportunities to extend their lead.

Nonetheless, after the first quarter, the Lions never came within 10 of the dominant Mustangs.

REACTION: "That's what it's going to take this season -- five guys playing as a team.  If we play defense like that against all of our opponents, we're going to be pretty good.  From this game, the only thing we didn't do well was free throws."  -- Stuart Wesonga.
