Stingers Fall to 0-2 at Youth Football Nationals

Tough team from Chicago rolls past 12-year-old Novato kids at Florida tournament.

The Novato Stingers youth football team suffered its second straight defeat at the American Youth Football National Championships on Tuesday in Kissimmee, Fla., falling to the Leyden Bears from the Chicago area, 34-14.

Paul Kunst and Tommy Sanz scored touchdowns for the Stingers, who play at 9 a.m. Eastern time Thursday against Houston Southside in a consolation bracket game. The Stingers play in a division for players under 12 and less than 130 pounds.

The Novato Yellow Jackets, competing in Division II of the Junior Midgets category for players up to 13 years old and 144 pounds, will play in the championship game at 1 p.m. Eastern on Thursday against the Harlem Jets.
