San Marin's Mehr Named Top Goalie in MCAL

The senior is one of three Mustangs honored, joining Nicole Roberts (second team) and Sarah Lucia (honorable mention); Novato's Alison Skidmore and Rubye Fangmeyer also earn distinctions.

senior Rachel Mehr was selected as the top goalie in Marin County Athletic League girl soccer in 2011 when the league announced the balloting for its annual awards this week.

Mehr, an honorable mention pick last season, was among 12 standouts named to the All-MCAL first team.

Two other Mustangs were honored. , who had made the All-MCAL first team as a sophomore in 2010, was named to the second team this season as a forward, and defender was placed on the Honorable Mention list.

Novato had two honorable mention players: forward Alison Skidmore and midfielder Rubye Fangmeyer.

Joining Mehr on the All-MCAL first team were forwards Storie Ledger of Tam, Kelly Groves of Redwood and Alana Shaw of Branson, midfielders Olivia Do of Redwood, Kayla Coffee of San Rafael, Madison Tye of Terra Linda and Darcy McFarlane of Branson, and defenders Kristi Cascio and Clare Renk of Marin Catholic, Nicole Henderson of Tam and Zoe Trutner of Redwood.

Tam's Kalia Rothlind was selected as the MCAL's Player of the Year.
