Hornets Put Up a Fight, But Mustangs Prevail

Inside/outside combination of Stuart Wesonga and John Seavey proves to be too much in the end as San Marin remains undefeated in MCAL boys basketball play.

TUESDAY’S SCORE:  59, 45.

SAN MARIN’S RECORD: 14-4 overall, 6-0 in MCAL.

NOVATO’S RECORD: 8-10 overall, 1-5 in MCAL.

GAME SUMMARY: The Mustangs and Hornets both brought their "A" games Tuesday night, keeping the score within eight points until the second half of the Marin County Athletic League boys basketball matchup. 

Novato utilized strong defensive pressure and a quick, fast-break offense to keep San Marin on its toes, while the Mustangs' was unbeatable from under the hoop and was nails from beyond the 3-point line, putting away five 3's in the game.

San Marin’s top scorers were Wesonga with 23 points and Seavey with 17. and also played well, with seven points apiece. 

For Novato, scored a team-high 13 points, added eight, and seven.

REACTION: “We got off to a slow start, but after we settled down we played very well, both on offense and defense.  Our one problem tonight was our free throws; we definitely could have put up a greater percentage.”  -- San Marin’s Ryan Zirkle. 

“We played good against a great San Marin team.  We just didn’t make all of our shots or box out as well as we could have, and that lost us the game.” -- Novato’s .
