Junior ROTC Cadets Seek Sponsors for Tour of Novato Ride

Cadets from the U.S. Air Force Junior ROTC program based at Novato High are looking for sponsors for the annual Tour of Novato cycling event on April 30. All funds donated will be turned back to the school for the JROTC program.

Sponsors can donate by going to www.tourofnovato.org and clicking on "sponsors" and support any cadet named "JROTC Rider #1 through #10."

The Tour of Novato and Cycling FunFair are combining forces and rolling onto the roads of Novato. There will be three rides out from the San Marin High campus for riders of all ages and abilities including families that just want to get a little exercise while supporting the schools.  Early-bird riders can start as early as 6 a.m.  There will also be a carnival with games, activities and goodies from 9-3 at San Marin.  This is the largest single fundraising event benefitting the entire Novato Unified School District.

Junior ROTC cadets, about 100 strong at Novato High, do more than learn about aviation, science and discipline. Some of them belong to the Novato Police Department’s Explorer Program, provide color guards at local events, stay in touch with veterans groups and volunteer at nonprofit events. The cadets have totaled more than 1,000 community service hours helping organizations such as the Kiwanis Club and the Parent Teacher Student Association.

The program thanks the community in advance for its support.
