Burke Honored as MCAL's Player of the Year

Junior standout is one of six Mustangs honored in the annual all-league balloting for baseball; Novato's Matt Mendelsohn is a first-team choice for the second year in a row.

's was named Player of the Year for 2011 in balloting of the coaches in conjunction with the selection of the All-Marin County Athletic League baseball teams.

Burke, a junior, was one of six players honored off the Mustangs' North Coast Section Division 3 co-champion team.

Infielder , an Honorable Mention choice last season as a junior, was promoted to the All-MCAL first team this year, and was joined there by teammates , a junior outfielder, and , a senior pitcher.

Senior earned second-team All-MCAL distinction as an outfielder, while , a senior pitcher, was placed among the Honorable Mention selections.

's NCS quarterfinalist had three players honored, led by senior infielder , a repeat selection on the All-MCAL first team.

Senior pitcher earned second-team honors for the second consecutive year, and sophomore was afforded Honorable Mention status as a designated hitter/utility player.

Joining Zirkle, Grossi, Driscoll and Mendelsohn on the All-MCAL first team were infielders Kenny Rabin of Branson and Parker Shaw of San Rafael, outfielders Connor Murphy of Marin Catholic and Mark Wangeman of Justin-Siena, pitcher Al Geraldi of Marin Catholic, catcher Jake Toll-McKillop of Terra Linda and DH/utility Corbin Wirta of Redwood.

Marin Catholic senior Robb Woodcock was selected Pitcher of the Year.
