Connecting Novatans to Local Real Estate Market and Much More

This Marin native has a lot to say about the local real estate market, Hamilton Field and all things Novato. When he's not working, his twins keep him on his feet.

My name is Spiro Stratigos and I look forward to becoming a regular blogger here on Novato Patch. You already know one thing about me — I have a name that is intimidating to pronounce! Please don't let it be Greek to you though; my first name is pronounced "Speero."

I live in Hamilton's Southgate neighborhood with my wife Mary Kay and our 7-year-old twins, Niko and Sophia. Mary Kay and I moved here in 2000 and were among the "new" Hamilton's earliest or "founding" families.

I'm also a Realtor in Frank Howard Allen’s Novato office, a profession I have been connected to, one way or another, since I was practically in diapers thanks to growing up in a family of real estate investors.

I was raised in Sausalito, but I'm happy I chose Novato to raise my family. Where to start about why I love Novato?  I’m an avid mountain biker and you can often find me riding through the hills in, around and above our town. Mostly, though, I love the small-town feel and the sense of shared community we enjoy here in Novato. When people come to Novato for the first time and they ask me about what life is like here, I often relate one of my favorite stories about our town.

A couple of years ago, our own Novato High School football team went to the state championship in Southern California. The buses pulled up to the school and the kids were given a police escort through town on their way to the airport. The bus drivers took a detour and took them down Grant Avenue and all the merchants and shoppers came out to the sidewalk to cheer them on.

Ultimately, the kids didn’t win the game, but that sendoff is something they’ll never forget for as long as they live. Neither will I, and that is but one reason I love this community. I love our 4th of July parade, which I have participated in for the last several years, and I love the holiday tree lighting ceremony I get to enjoy with my family and friends.

We don’t have the perfect community yet, but we’re working on that. I look forward to giving readers an inside look at Novato real estate, but my posts won't be limited to that. They'll also reflect my other interests, such as the Hamilton community, the city's Parks and Recreation department, local dining, mountain biking plus some adventures in parenting I'm sure. You may not always agree with what I have to say, but I truly respect your feedback and can’t wait to get started!
