Become Greek this Weekend at the Marin Greek Festival

Opa! Yasou! Just a few of the words you need to help realize your dream of being on the Greek Islands.

The Marin Greek Festival turns 40 years old this year!  It's as old as I am and it's been a family tradition for as long as I can remember.

For years, my dad would made Souvlaki (kabobs) for the festival.  He would make big ones and small ones.  He made them with lamb, pork, and chicken and he especially liked making them bite size for just a dollar.  They always ran out because he made them taste so good.

When I tell people my name, they always ask if I am Greek.  My answer is always, "You don’t get Greeker than Spiro Stratigos!"  It makes them laugh and the name always sticks with them.

I want to invite you today and tomorrow to come to the festival at the in Ignacio to enjoy the traditions of Greece.  If you see me, say, “Yasou!” (common greeting for hello and goodbye) or “Opa!” (like yahoo!).   Don’t be shy.  Say it loud.
