Santa Rosa man on probation booked on drug charges

A Santa Rosa man recently convicted of car theft and out of jail on probation was in custody after CHP officers determined he was driving while high on marijuana.

Expired registration tags resulted in officers pulling over Eliaser Valadez, 23, as he drove along College Avenue Wednesday, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

A records check showed Valadez was unlicensed and that he'd been convicted of vehicle theft Monday and sentenced to three years probation.

Officers searched his car and found 15 hydrocodone pills, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana, Sloat said.

They also determined he was under the influence of marijuana and arrested him on that suspicion, as well as possessing the pills without a prescription, driving without a license and violating his new probation orders.
