If toasting the holidays with a mug of artisan ale is your idea of heaven, be sure to pay a visit to Novato’s Baeltane Brewing. Located at 401-B Bel Marin Keys Boulevard, this micro-brewery and tasting room showcases several unique craft beers– produced in Belgian, French, and West Coast ale styles–created by visionary Head Brewer and co-owner Alan Atha. Together with business partner, Cathy Portje, the pair is putting Baeltane’s brews on the map.
An award-winning amateur homebrewer, Atha turned his passion into a “small but growing” commercial business that prides itself on making distinctive ales with inventive twists (and names) that leave a big impression. The small, casual tasting room has a warm, cozy ambience that invites camaraderie amongst friends, and no televisions to distract from the lively conversation.
Examples of Baeltane’s brews include Luminesce Tripel, which marries spice, fruit, and alcohol flavors with soft malt character and slight esters of citrus; The Frog That Ate The World: a strong, medium-bodied, “intensely hoppy” West Coast Double IPA without the maltiness of a traditional IPA; and newly released Citroen French Farmhouse Ale: a dry beer with fruit, spice, and soft malt character that is liberally dosed with Saaz and Citra hops for West Coast appeal.

Celebrating one year in business this month, Baeltane Brewing extends an open invitation to attend its Anniversary Party on December 14 from 12:00pm to 10:30pm. Live music by Thousand Years at Sea and Zoe Blank will kick off at 4:00pm to provide the perfect backdrop for this festive event.
