Winning Isn't Everything, But Good Spelling Is Important

San Marin's new production imparts valuable life lessons

San Marin High School’s music department is putting on a new production where audience participation is part of the show.

The musical comedy is called the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the plot centers around six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

But what’s different is that in addition to the cast, four audience members will be recruited to participate on-stage as guest spellers during each show, throwing in a dash of unpredictability.

It’s all fun and games, but as audiences laugh they’re reminded that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

Performances begin at 8pm on October 25, 26, and November 1 and 2 and at 2pm on October 27 and November 3 at the Emily Gates Student Center at San Marin High School.
