Whiz Kid: Sinclaire Parer, Award-Winning Equestrian
This week, with an enthusiastic nod to the Kentucky Derby last weekend and all the 'horse people' living in Novato, we honor an accomplished equestrian.
Every Wednesday, Novato Patch honors a Whiz Kid in the community for doing something special in sports (see past Whiz Kids Stuart Wesonga and Courtney Madison), for charity (Marin 4-H Club) or for writing an awesome speech for the Elk's Club Contest like last week's Ciara Samuels.
This week, with an enthusiastic nod to the Kentucky Derby last weekend and all the "horsey" people living in Novato, we honor an accomplished equestrian.

Great Deed: Sinclaire was one of nine riders from the San Domenico Equestrian Team who traveled to Maryland for the 2011 Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals, held during the last weekend of April. The girls had each qualified by placing first in their classes at the California/Nevada Finals last month.
The IEA competitions are unique in that riders don't compete on their own horses (which certainly saves on trying to fit your horse into your checked luggage) but it's also like a little like Danica Patrick being handed the keys of a rental just before the Indy 500; In the IEA, entrants draw the name of an unfamiliar mount moments before the competition.
Key to Awesomeness: Coach Lisa Durbrow and the two-year old San Domenico team were delighted with the experience of competing at such a high level and with their fine results, which included Sinclaire's sixth-place finish. “They were models of professionalism, talent, and good sportsmanship,” Durbrow says.
