It was an exciting weekend for as students celebrated a Homecoming full of Green and Gold.

A pep rally began after the parade at the blacktop near the football field with performances by the Homecoming candidates, school cheerleaders, youth football cheerleaders and the school dance classes.

“The parade was better than normal because there were way more groups involved. It was a lot of fun for San Marin students and the San Marin community,” said Danielle Albini, Associated Student Body president and Homecoming candidate.

The San Marin Leadership class worked hard to make the Homecoming parade a community event.

On Saturday morning the freshman and junior varsity football teams played against Marin Catholic and at 2 p.m. the varsity team took on the visiting Wildcats. The varsity game was tied 17-17 at halftime, during which the varsity cheer teams performed and the Homecoming queen was crowned. Sarah Marthinsen, varsity cheerleading captain, track and field standout, and musical theater and drama actress, was crowned Homecoming queen and put on the tiara.  Sarah was all smiles as she was escorted off the field by her father, San Marin track and field coach Art Marthinsen.

Marin Catholic had a big second half on the football field and claimed a 45-23 victory.

After the game, many of the students went home and got dressed for the Homecoming dance. Students danced the night away to hits from artists like LMFAO and Pitbull. Musical theater and drama standout, Elliott Hanson, was chosen Homecoming king and was crowned by his queen, Sarah Marthinsen.

“I heard a lot of people say it was the best homecoming they’ve been to and there was a good turn out,” said senior class president and Homecoming candidate Bridget Pacchetti.

It was a weekend to remember as the class of 2012 celebrated its last Homecoming. Full of school spirit and fun, it will be a weekend the seniors will never forget.
