Queen Crowned for San Marin High Homecoming

Sarah Marthinsen will find out who the king is at the homecoming dance.

When the Homecoming queen candidates opened their flower boxes at halftime of Saturday's football game, Sarah Marthinsen was the only one to find a long-stemmed red rose inside. She let out a squeal and was congratulated by the rest of Homecoming court before putting on her queen's tiara. Seconds later she was swarmed by her cheerleading teammates.

Marthinsen is head varsity cheerleader, a track and field standout and has played many leading roles in dramas and musicals. She was to find out who the Homecoming king is at the dance Saturday night.

On the football field, San Marin held tough against Marin Catholic as the teamed deadlocked at 17-17 at halftime, but the visiting Wildcats pulled away for a 45-23 victory.
