Fun for the Family and Funds for the Schools

Novato High putting on its first carnival. School rivalries will play out on the softball field.

It’s official. You now “know” at least one former carnival barker. For one summer during college, I worked at an amusement park on the Jersey shore, trying to entice pigeons, I mean, carnival goers to try their luck at one of a number of carnival games.

Fear not, however, as no one will be looking at you as easy pickings on Saturday, Sept. 15, at ’s very first carnival. The entire Novato community is invited to attend from noon to 4:30 p.m. Clowns and jugglers and performers and artists will be out and about on the midway — the transformed parking lot — to entertain and amaze and amuse. There is no admission fee, but tickets can be purchased to play games, bop in the jumpy houses, and participate in other activities such as face painting and balloon animals.

Those who take enjoyment at seeing staff and other “dignitaries” drop in the dunking tank should definitely be there.

Stay tuned for more information about the carnival in coming weeks. All proceeds benefit Novato High School students.
