WHAT: The July 15 meeting is the third in a series of public meetings to inform the community about a progressive new charter school in Novato, Marin county’s first Core Knowledge curriculum pre-k through 8th grade public charter school.  The meeting will include an overview of the proposed charter school for those who have not attended earlier meetings, a detailed look at the Core Knowledge language arts program, the grade-by-grade curriculum sequence and an interactive Q&A. North Bay Educational Foundation (NBEF) will also present general charter admissions policies and guidelines, and will gather preliminary intent to enroll forms from the public.  In addition, there will be opportunities for interested community members to get involved in bringing this proven educational model to Novato.

At Sunday’s meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to sign a consideration of intent to enroll. The official intent to enroll will be available as soon as the petition is complete, but this preliminary consideration of intent to enroll will assist NBEF in developing the petition with insight into factors such as size of school, facilities and budget.

NBEF is actively seeking community input and involvement. While the school is planned to open next year, community support and participation is critical TODAY. In order to open in August, 2013, NBEF will submit its petition, including signatures with intent to register, to NUSD as early as September, so interested parents and community members are encouraged to learn about this innovative educational opportunity and get involved now.

Childcare and Spanish language translation will be available.

This public meeting is open to any and all interested parents and members of the community. If possible, attendees are asked to email northbayedu@gmail.com with RSVP in the subject line, noting the number of children requiring childcare. For general attendance, RSVPs are requested for planning purposes only and are not required to attend. For childcare, RSVPs are required due to space restraints and in order to provide adequate supervision.
