Learn About Backyard Beekeeping and Honey Spinning

Learn about the hobby of backyard beekeeping and the process of harvesting honey in a lively two-part workshop  at the Next Key Center in Novato.

This hands-on event starts with Introduction to Backyard Beekeeping from 10 a.m. to noon, an overview of the 12-month cycle of keeping bees as well as an examination of all equipment needed.

Introduction to Honey Spinning from noon to 2 p.m. lets participants get sticky while trying their hand at harvesting honey. The Marin Bee Co. team will demonstrate how to uncap honeycomb, spin and bottle honey.

Everyone will get a taste! The Marin Bee Co. also will offer jars of raw honey for sale.

Proceeds benefit shelter and job-training programs at Homeward Bound of Marin.
