Introduction to Beekeeping and Honey Spinning

A two-part workshop presented by Marin Bee Co. with Homeward Bound of Marin will introduce guests to the hobby of beekeeping and harvesting your own honey.

From 10 a.m. to noon, learn about the 12-month cycle of keeping bees and all the equipment needed, which will be available for guests to see and touch.  This first workshop concludes with a visit to the Homeward Bound hives.

From 1 to 3 p.m., try your hand at harvesting honey. Come prepared to get sticky in this hands-on session, which  moves into the commercial kitchen to uncap honeycomb, then spin and bottle honey. Everyone gets a taste!

A lunch buffet featuring (what else?) honey will be available between sessions for an extra charge.

All proceeds benefit shelter and job-training programs at Homeward Bound of Marin.
