Fair Housing Law and Practice Seminar for Property Owners and Managers

Apartment owners and managers are encouraged to attend “Fair Housing Law and Practice,” a seminar for the rental housing industry presented by Fair Housing of Marin on Tuesday morning, May 24.

This seminar is directed to property owners and managers, on-site apartment managers, real estate agents, affordable housing staff and other housing providers.  The seminar addresses property owners’ rights and responsibilities under federal, state and county fair housing laws, and how to establish policies
that will ensure equal opportunity and prevent potential legal problems.

The fee for the three hour course is $65.00.  The event is cosponsored by the Marin County Task Force on Housing Discrimination, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the van Loben Sels/Rembe Rock Foundation.

Topics to be covered include:  Federal, state and local fair housing laws, tenant selection criteria, housing for people with disabilities, advertising, steering, blockbusting, fair lending, developing proactive fair housing policies, evictions, harassment, retaliation, families with children, most common complaints, our services.
