American Lung Association Better Breathers Meeting

“Dietary considerations for individuals with COPD” will be the topic of the American Lung Association’s Better Breathers Club meeting Wednesday, May 2 from 2:30 to
3:30 p.m.at Novato Community Hospital library, 165 Rowland Way in Novato.


Proper nutrition can help reduce carbon dioxide levels and improve breathing. Patients will learn tips for nutritional eating to improve breathing with lung disease.

Meetings are facilitated by Jim Braley, director of the
respiratory therapy department at Novato Community Hospital. Meetings are free and open to the public. The library is located in the west medical office building.

Sponsored by the American Lung Association and Novato Community Hospital, the Better Breathers Club program
provides information on breathing problems and support for participants and their families. COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is an umbrella term for chronic
bronchitis and emphysema, two conditions in which the airways are obstructed. It is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
