Bouncing Some Balls for the Sake of Schools

The weather cooperated Sunday at a fundraiser for School Fuel, but the bocce balls didn't cooperate enough for the upstart challengers. A team of league bocce players from the host club showed the rookies how it was done and took home first prizes at Marin Bocce in San Rafael.

The top Novato team was from , which gave the "pros" a run for their money before falling in the championship match. The Mustangs, a team representing , barely held off the Hornets, from , by one point for third place.

School Fuel, the nonprofit that supports public schools in Novato, supplied  volunteers who ran the event with some help from Marin Bocce. Lunch was catered by .
