Among the Villagers at the Festival

Art & Wine event had something for everyone, even heavy metal fans.

I just had the best experience at the Novato Art and Wine Festival. I am a busy freelance writer, with deadlines that loom every day, particularly on Mondays.  So weekends for me are usually spent madly trying to meet my various obligations. My husband, who has no real appreciation for this, suggested that we go the Novato Wine and Art Festival. I was annoyed. OK, I thought, a few hours of “family time,” and I can race back and get to writing.

We found parking easily, and our first stop was a wine and beer booth. I was not particularly interested in partaking today, but soon a fabulous cab from Ghirengelli’s booth was thrust in my hand, and we were on our way.

I was amazed at the wide variety of art and other items we passed as we strolled down Grant Avenue. There was truly something for everyone, from fabulous jewelry to spectacular art.

The highlight for me was at the far end of Grant Avenue, where we encountered a great 80’s band, Metal Shop. I had a blast, and for a split moment with wine in hand, crowd cheering and the sun shining, I was back to a Poison concert straight from circa 1980.

As I walked back toward my car, I had never noticed how cute our little Novato really is. Above the white tent tops, lush green trees blew in the breeze, with Mt. Burdell in background. We are lucky to live in such a fun, vibrant town.
