Who Should Represent us in Congress? Take Our Poll

Next year, we'll be voting for the retiring Lynn Woolsey's replacement in the House of Representatives. Have you made your decision?

Last week, candidates vying for the 2nd Congressional District seat in 2012 participated in two debates in Petaluma. The person who represents Novato in the U.S. House of Representatives as Lynn Woolsey's replacement will have to tackle tough domestic issues such as economic reform, rising healthcare costs, unemployment, Social Security and the growing divide between the rich and poor. On the international scene, we'll have to find a representative who takes a stance against the wars in the Middle East and America's place in the world financial markets.

The candidates are Susan Adams, Andy Caffrey, William Courtney, Jared Huffman, Stacey Lawson, Daniel Roberts, Tiffany Renee and Norman Solomon.

Check out the video from a recent candidate forum featuring a new candidate in the race, Andy Caffrey, a former Earth First! activist from Mendocino who spent five years homeless. Another candidate we haven't heard from until now is Daniel Roberts, a Vietnam vet and investment company president who is running as a Republican.

If you're unsure where the candidates stand on the issues and would like to hear it straight from them, we recommend the Be Your Government channel on YouTube, which has dozens of short video clips of the candidates answering important questions.

Who are favoring in the race? And what are the issues that matter most to you? Tell us in the comments and vote in our poll!

I must say how sad it is that Stacy Lawson and her volunteers have to stuff the box to make her campaign look better. She has 3 votes this morning and within a day over 90 votes came in for her. Sounds like somebody is sitting at home hitting the refresh button and re-voting for herself over and over. Everybody knows that this is between Norman and Jared. How desperate???

Actually Kyle, according to three polls now, one by Huffman and two internal polls conducted for my campaign, the race is between Huffman and me. Norman's "fame" is only among 1 percent of the voters and it's not growing. Our polls reveal: Sept. Undecided 78% Huffman 9% Adams 3% Caffrey 2% Solomon 1% Lawson .5% Renee .5% Oct. Undecided 79% Huffman 10% (^1%) Caffrey 4% (^2%) Adams 4% (^1%) Solomon 1% (^0%) Lawson 1% (^.5%) Renee .5% (^0%) Courtney .5% These are professional polls contracted out by my political consultants. Interestingly, our polls also show as of Oct.: People who say they will vote for a Congressional rep who is Democratic 63% Republican 15% Third Party 4% undecided 18% And for a north district guy, I’m doing pretty well here in this Marin Co. poll without yet campaigning there.
