1.  Four-Year Plan on Aging to be Reviewed

State and federal law mandate that an area plan be provided every four years regarding the use of funds for aging services.  The will be presenting its strategy to address the needs of older adults, family caregivers and people with disabilities in Marin County.  Activities proposed to address these needs include: developing strategies to promote health, prevent chronic conditions and provide tools to effectively manage diseases among older adults; conducting forums to educate the public about critical topics and issues that impact older persons, family caregivers and adults with disability; and collaborating with community partners to develop innovative projects to strengthen the aging service system.

2.  Residential Design Guidelines Technical Assistance Award to be Considered

The Community Development Agency will be requesting that the Board consider accepting a technical assistance award to develop multi-family residential design guidelines.  The award is being offered through the FOCUS program, a regional development and conservation partnership and is valued at about $55,000.

3.  Board to Make Appointments for Disaster Council and Marin City Redevelopment Successor Agency

4.  Employee of the Month to be Honored

In the afternoon, the Board will be presenting Dongfen Gao with the employee of the month award for the month of May. Dongfen is a Senior Programmer with the Department of Information Services and Technology Department.  She began working for Marin County in March 2005 and has been a key team member on projects for the Justice Departments and has also worked on projects for the Probation Department and the Community Development Agency.  She has consistently tackled difficult technical problems and provided solutions that are used across a number of applications and services.

5.  Continued Items from April 19th Budget Workshops

The Board will also be hearing remaining budget plan presentations, continued from April 19, for the Information Services and Technology, County Administrator and Board of Supervisors departments for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 fiscal years.

6.  Board Inundated with Messages of Support for Grady Ranch project

Residents packed the halls of the Board Chambers to convey messages of support for the Grady Ranch project proposal and The Board also adopted a resolution at the meeting urging the Lucas team to proceed with the project.  To further give voice to community members expressing support for reconsideration by the Lucas Team, the County has also created an email account ReconsiderGradyRanch@marincounty.org and is asking individuals to write messages of encouragement, which will then be forwarded to the Skywalker Properties team and will also be posted on the County’s website.

7.  Board Proclaims April as Volunteer Recognition Month

At the request of Supervisor Kinsey, the Board adopted a resolution proclaiming April 2012, as "Marin County Volunteer Recognition Month” and the week of April 15 to 21 as “National Volunteer Recognition Week."   The resolution is designed to honor the important work that is provided to the Marin community by volunteers.

8.  McInnis Park Golf Center Agreement Adopted

The Board adopted   In return for use of the facility, the county will be paid annual rent based upon a percentage of gross revenues at the facility, with a minimum annual rent of $350,000.  The Tayman Park Golf Group is owned by golf professionals Jimmy Stewart and Frank Johnson.

10. Organic Certification Process Amendments Adopted

The Board completed its second reading and adopted an ordinance that regulates how organic products are certified in Marin County.  Key changes include making direct references to the National Organic Program regulations and allowing fees to be amended by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.  By directly referencing the federal program, interested parties will have access to the most current and accurate information regarding the National Organic Program requirements.

11. Sheriff’s Re-Entry Team Foamally Recognized

The Sheriff’s Re-Entry Team was presented with the “Outstanding Team of the Quarter” award in recognition of their work for the Marin community.  The re-entry team assists individuals as they transition back into the community once released from jail and ensures they receive the needed resources to make their transition a success.  To date, the Re-Entry Team has assisted over 200 inmates return to the community, with outstanding results.
