Novato Hosting Public Workshop on Housing Element

The following notice is from the City of Novato: 

Notice is hereby given that the Novato Planning Commission will conduct a community workshop on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in Novato City Hall Council Chambers located at 901 Sherman Avenue, Novato, California to review and provide feedback on the draft 2015-2023 Housing Element update. 

The workshop will include a staff presentation addressing: 1) an evaluation of the current Housing Element, 2) an overview of demographics and housing needs assessment including constraints on housing development, 3) potential programs to create additional housing opportunities, and 4) an overview of the upcoming schedule for completion of the 2015-2023 Housing Element. All residents of Novato and interested parties are invited to attend this workshop at which the Planning Commission welcomes comments on the pending Housing Element update.

Per State law, an update of the City's Housing Element, one of the required elements of the City's General Plan, is required every eight years; this update will cover the time period of January 31, 2015 - January 31, 2023.

As required by State law, the Housing Element update will be subject to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Upon completion of the draft Housing Element update and any supportive background reports, an assessment of the potential environmental impacts of the project will be completed and the appropriate environmental documents will be prepare for consideration in conjunction with the final draft Housing Element.

The Department is open Monday through Thursday and every other Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (office will be closed Friday, May 23, 2014).
