Marin County Recruiting Experts for Assessment Appeals Board

Candidates should be well-versed in real estate, accounting, law or property appraisal.

The following is a news release from the county of Marin:

The County of Marin is recruiting candidates with expertise in real estate, accounting, law or property appraisal as potential new members of its two Marin County Assessment Appeals Boards. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 5.

Appointed by the Marin County Board of Supervisors, the Assessment Appeals Board members hear appeals by property owners regarding value assessments by the County Assessor. In recent years, the caseload of the state-mandated Assessment Appeals Boards has necessitated hearings about every four weeks. Appeals are heard alternately by the two boards and might include additional meetings.  Board members are paid a stipend per meeting.
