Marin Community Foundation Redirects its Focus to the Most Needy

Fewer dollars to be distributed for environmental causes and more toward kids and seniors, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

The Novato-based , which supports a network of nonprofits and other needy sources, has decided to focus its aid on programs that provide so-called safety net services to people, according to a story in the .

MCF Executive Director Thomas Peters was quoted as saying the foundation can't make up for government cutbacks and needs to funnel funds to the most vulnerable populations. Among those groups are the young and elderly who need health care.
