Light Agenda on Tap for City Council on Tuesday

Block grants and ABAG long-range plans are to be discussed.

The Novato City Council has a brief agenda for May 31 with just two items to cover: Community Development Block Grants and the Association of Bay Area Governments’ Sustainable Communities Strategy.

As it considers a block grant agreement renewal for fiscal years 2013-2015, the council will be asked to direct Mayor Madeline Kellner to notify the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that the city wants to defer its “metropolitan” status to remain with the county process.

The council also plans to talk about ABAG’s countywide Initial Vision Scenario that plans to make services and amenities available to more residents by walking, a sustainable transportation system, protected natural resources and safe and healthy communities.
