Elks Lodge, Supporters Honor Marin's Fallen Soldiers
Veterans Day event features tribute to Jake Velloza of Inverness and Nicholas Olson of Novato, both killed in action in Iraq, plus appearances by local veterans and new military recruits.
Prime rib, fish and a huge helping of patriotism were served on 11/11/11 when the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks from the hosted an event to honor the two Marin soldiers killed in Iraq while serving their country.
The families of Jake Velloza of Inverness and Nicholas Olson of Novato received the B.P.O. Elks Medal of Valor, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice of the two young men and their families made. Olson died in 2007 and Velloza died in 2009.
