City Council Tackles Full Agenda

A response to the Marin County Grand Jury report on gangs, a restated graffiti abatement ordinance, and a proposed settlement with a developer are all on the agenda.

The agenda for Tuesday’s city council and special meeting includes authorization for the city's response to the Marin Civil Grand Jury recommendations in the jury's report: Gangs of Marin: A Tale of Two Counties.

Also on the agenda is adoption of a restated ordinance for the prevention and abatement of graffiti. The revised ordinance is the result of the city’s interdepartmental Graffiti Abatement Team that looked for ways to improve the city’s response to graffiti removal.

As reported in the Marin Independent Journal, the city council will also consider a settlement with MCCE Development, LCC over the 10-year-old dispute of a 37-lot subdivision near Marin Country Club. The dispute resulted in several civil suits and the erection of a chain-link fence blocking a trailhead on Fairway Drive. That fence would be removed if the settlement is accepted, according to the Marin IJ article.

Also up for consideration by the council is a policy to purchase foreclosed affordable housing in the Meadowpark development, which has fallen below market rate prices, in order to preserve deed restrictions on low income housing.
