Caltrans Closing Street to Remove Bridge Scaffolding

Folks on Franklin Avenue get to endure three closures during May, the first beginning May 8.

Part of the scaffolding is coming down on the Highway 101 construction job, and that means road closures on at least one Novato surface street.

Caltrans plans to close Franklin Avenue to pedestrians and bicyclists at the undercrossing to safely remove temporary bridge construction falsework, a spokesman said. Caltrans is in the middle of a to add high-occupancy vehicle lanes and alleviate traffic congestion.

Franklin Avenue will need to be closed to the public on three occasions during May, with each closure lasting about three days. The tentative closure schedule is May 8-10, May 15-17 and May 22-24. The dates are weather permitting, Caltrans said.
