Arnold Helps Huffman On State Housing Bill

Law, to be heard in the Capitol later this month, would give municipalities more credit toward mandated housing quotas.

State Assemblyman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, has introduced a bill that will give municipalities more leeway to meet state-mandated housing quotas, according to a release his office sent out Friday.

The bill, written in conjunction with Marin County Supervisor Judy Arnold — who represents most of Novato — would allow a city to petition for an appropriate density designation for the area near a proposed housing complex and allow for converted or foreclosed housing to count toward required housing needs. The bill would give credits to cities that meet sustainability standards as well.
