Xbox Shoplifter Gets Nabbed at Target

The following information from Mar. 4-6 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

 

The Headliner: 

Mar. 5, 2:07 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the Target Store on Vintage Way.  A white man in his 20s wearing a gray hat, black jacket, gray pants and white shoes was observed cutting off security tags on Xbox controllers.  The man was arrested for burglary and his vehicle was towed to storage.  The El Dorado County probation office will also be notified.

Mar. 4 

12:04 a.m. – A Hamilton resident reported hearing a vehicle crash.  The reporting party said a sedan with no lights on hit something, then backed up and left the scene heading towards Hangar Avenue on Palm Drive.  One person was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

9:01 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Rite Aid store on Diablo Avenue.  A man was observed entering the store twice and removing the security caps off items and taking them from the store.  He was described as a black man in his 30s.  He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a sweatshirt and jeans and was driving a blue/gray 80s model Toyota.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary, petty theft with a prior, and making false representation to a police officer. 

11:06 a.m. – A witness reported that a man driving a red Toyota Paseo with two children and a baby in the car was spinning donuts in the parking lot of the Downtown Novato Shopping Center on Grant Avenue. The reporting party was concerned fro the safety of the children.  The man was booked on suspicion of violating a protective custody court order. 

1:36 p.m. – A grand theft was reported at the Nave Shopping Center.  Three BMX bicycles were taken from behind a closed gate at a business within the last 10 minutes.  Three juveniles were apprehended, cited on suspicion of grand theft and later released. 

5 p.m. – A motorcycle rider, stopped for vehicle code violations, was cited and released on suspicion of riding without a license in the vicinity of Eucalyptus Avenue and Novato Boulevard.  The dirt bike he was riding was towed and impounded. 

5:32 p.m. – A man was reported to by making inappropriate and incoherent remarks to women inside Boca’s on Ignacio Boulevard. He was described as a white man with brown hair and a goatee, 5’ 7” tall, and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray sweatpants and headed towards the coffee shop.  The man was taken to Helen Vine to detox. 

Mar. 5

1:16 a.m. – A woman staying at Americas Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard reported that the man she was staying there with had taken the room key with him to work and advised the front desk not to let her into the room.  The reporting party also said she had a welt on her bottom from where the man hit her today.  The man was arrested and booked on suspicion of battery on a cohabitant.  The woman removed her items from the room and left the premises. 

7:25 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at San Marin High School.  Buildings were egged and windows were broken in the 400 and 500 buildings.  

8:54 a.m. – Two locked vehicles in a driveway on Pinheiro Circle were burglarized.  There were no signs of forced entries. 

9:53 a.m. – A woman in the lobby of the Novato Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard was reported to be hallucinating.  She was described as a white woman in her mid-30s and was wearing a purple dress.  The woman was gone on arrival. 

11:14 a.m. – A woman seen in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Rush Creek Place was reported to be under the influence and very “twitchy.”  She was described as a white woman with dark hair and a purple dress.  The woman was determined to be a danger to her self or others and was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold. 

3:08 p.m. – A reporting party at Novato High School requested that a student be cited for having a knife on campus.  He is in the office and cooperative. 

3:35 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 1800 block of Novato Boulevard.  A green 1998 Honda Civic was last seen yesterday afternoon around 3 p.m. San Rafael PD had a record of recovering the vehicle after it was involved in a hit and run. 

4 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 200 block of Sunset Drive.  Several vacant residences had windows broken and security lights broken.  The U.S. Coast Guard was notified. Damage is estimated at $1000. 

7:07 p.m. – A crazy person said to be on crystal meth was reported in the Emergency Room lobby at Novato Community Hospital.  Security was said to be in route.  The man was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance. 

Mar. 6 

4:57 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Lakeview Court.  The reporting party said that he saw two black men and a white man pointing guns at two occupants of a vehicle in a parking lot.  All of the parties then went into an apartment in the area. 

7:05 a.m. – An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 1300 block of Leafwood Drive.  One person was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. 

12:23 p.m. – A fraud was reported on Wintergreen Court.  A victim lost his debit card that was used in southern Marin and Santa Rosa for unauthorized transactions.  The case was forwarded to the appropriate jurisdictions. 

1:32 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 600 block of Olive Avenue.  The reporting party said that squatters did extensive damage to her home.  The people had been former renters that had lived there for five years.  They had promised the landlord to keep the house nice but they did not. 

4:27 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported to the rear of the Lucky’s store on Grant Avenue. 

4:59 p.m. – Suspicious persons were reported to be hanging out in front of a store in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  The reporting party said that two white men appeared homeless and one was on a bike.  The reporting party was concerned because one of the men had place a large hammer on top of a table fronting the coffee shop.  One of the men was contacted and asked to put the hammer in his backpack and was advised to move along.  No violations were observed. 

6:18 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 500 block of North Oakwood Drive.    The reporting party noticed new taggings all over the back wall of a building. 

10:52 p.m. – A minor was cited on suspicion of being in possession of alcohol in the 2400 block of Novato Boulevard.  The minor was released to a parent.
