Woman Claims 'Illegals' Using 80-Year-Old's Credit Cards

The following information from May 16-19 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

May 17, 1:49 p.m. – A welfare check was requested in the 300 block of San Luis Way for an 80-year-old man whose stepdaughter-in-law was concerned that he was being financially abused by illegal immigrants living in his home.  She stated that the home is now in foreclosure and that the people living there are using his credit cards.  Officer(s) contacted the involved parties regarding possible elder abuse.  There is an ongoing investigation. 

May 16

8:50 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 900 block of C Street.  Unknown(s) entered a building by cutting through poly-containment barrier(s) and wires.  The reporting party is with a demolition company that is doing the work.  Nothing appears to be missing at this time.  Extra patrols were requested. 

8:50 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue.  The loss was some keys, a watch and an undetermined amount of money.  The reporting believes an ex-girlfriend may be responsible.

9:13 a.m. – A woman in the vicinity of Carmel Drive reported being threatened by a boy.  He used racial slurs and told the reporting party that he was going to kill her. The boy was booked at juvenile hall on suspicion of making threats and resisting arrest. For a full story, .

10:22 a.m. – A 17-year-old student at Marin Oaks High School on Diablo Avenue was believed to be under the influence of marijuana.  He was cited for possession. 

11:47 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 600 block of Cutlass Drive.  Unknown(s) stole the reporting party’s 1996 green Jeep Grand Cherokee overnight.  All keys have been accounted for. 

2:44 p.m. – A woman on Oliva Drive reported that there was a large snake on her front step and that she is afraid to go outside.  She has four small children.  The Marin Humane Society was advised by dispatch to handle the situation. 

7:44 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violation(s) was found to be an unlicensed driver.  The driver was cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license and for driving without operable stoplights.  The driver’s vehicle was also impounded. 

8:34 p.m. – A stolen vehicle from Novato was recovered by Richmond police. 

May 17 

3:03 a.m. – Domestic violence was reported on Cielo Lane.  The reporting party said that his girlfriend was acting crazy and breaking things.  She is aware that the police has been called.  She has been a drinking and doing drugs.  The reporting party said that she spit in his face and hit him with an object.  The woman was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence. 

8:49 a.m. – A grand theft was reported on Shon Court.  A victim reported losing some jewelry in a residential burglary.  An anklet with three pendants was taken.  The loss is estimated at $3,500.

3:06 p.m. – A San Marin High School teacher found a bottle of alcohol on campus. A student was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol and released. 

6:12 p.m. – Officer(s) assisted with a downed power line in a street in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Sequoia Glen Lane.  PG&E secured the scene and will have their personnel tag the area. See Novato Patch coverage with follow-up coverage .

May 18 

2:47 a.m. – An attempted burglary was reported on Muroc Lake Drive.  A woman heard someone trying to take the screen off of her window.  She said that she saw two black men about 18 to 20 years old wearing all black clothing trying to removed the screen. No entry was made into the residence.  Officer(s) were unable to locate anyone in the area matching the description given. 

9:06 a.m. – A man was reported to have made a verbal disturbance at the Novato Fire District offices on Rowland Way.  The man made veiled threats and then left the area in a van.  Plate information was provided.  Officer(s) contacted staff and determined that there were no criminal violations.  The man was also contacted and was admonished about his behavior.  The incident was documented. 

12:24 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of South Oakwood Drive. The reporting party’s vacant how was broken into.  The point of entry was a broken window. There is no additional loss. 

2:53 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.  A victim noticed 10 fraudulent charges while checking her account online.  Unknowns made unauthorized gas purchases in Southern California. 

7:19 p.m. – An aggravated assault was reported in the 100 block of Posada Del Sol.  A man was seen pushing a woman into a car.  The reporting party said that the woman appeared to have bruises on the back of her shoulder and the man had scrapes on his knuckles.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence. 

8:35 p.m. – A woman reported (via translator) that her brother was at the Harvest Market and is being punched by multiple men who are saying that they want to kill him.  One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. 

May 19 

8:44 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown(s) entered a victim’s vehicle and attempted to steal vehicle parts with negative results.  A key was found jammed in the ignition. 

10 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown(s) tagged the wall of a business. 

3:33 p.m. – A reporting party in the 900 block of Reichert Avenue said that a man approached and said that he needed to go to the hospital.  The reporting party said the man looked like he was soaking wet and thought he may have psychological issues.  The man was located and transported to Marin General and placed on a psychiatric hold. 

9:25 p.m. – A juvenile disturbance was reported in the Hamilton area.  A reporting party said that there were three carloads of kids drinking in the vicinity of the amphitheater in the 500 block of South Palm Drive.  The kids were contacted in the park playing Frisbee.  There was no merit to the report of alcohol but the kids were advised that the park closes at 10 p.m. 

May 20 

2:05 a.m. – A welfare check was requested for a woman sitting in a car in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said the woman was parked near the McDonald’s playground and was laughing and talking to herself.  The woman was contacted who was using McDonald’s wi-fi to update her phone and purchase “funny” apps. 

8:23 a.m. – An aggravated assault was reported at the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue.  One was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats and domestic battery.  An emergency protection order was granted and served. 

11:31 a.m. – The head of a neighborhood watch group reported an noticeable increase in the number of people gathering to the rear of an apartment building in the 1500 block or Center Road.  Today a woman was seen with ripped stockings.  The reporting party asked if the woman needed help but she said “no”. Extra patrols were requested for the area. 

7:53 p.m. – A juvenile disturbance was reported at the public library in the 1700 block of Novato Boulevard.  A reporting party said that several kids were seen climbing onto the roof of the library. The kids were gone on arrival and they could not be located in the area.
